Making Motos Great Again By Dan Sanchez, Editor The headline for this editorial comes from SCORE's Moto Liaison Andy Kirker, as it is something we and SCORE have been dedicated to for a while. After diving into SCORE's history for more than 10-years now, motorcycles and the riders who propelled them down the Baja Peninsula are the backbone of what SCORE is today. Just because some of the four-wheel vehicles have advanced in technology to be the fastest vehicles in the desert, motorcycle and quad riders continue to raise the bar of skill and determination that is unmatched in any class. Since the Ekins brothers took that first ride in Baja, moto riders have continued to inspire the next generation of riders. To that point, many who have succeeded, have earned legendary status that continues to this day. This issue, focuses on the newest generation of riders in the SCORE Pro Moto Unlimited Class, all of whom have risen up from riding with legendary teams and continue to be mentored by legendary riders. It's inspiring to see how some of the great riders of our time care enough about the sport to pass on their knowledge and skills to the next group of riders crossing the finish line. It's an unselfish view which in itself is inspiring, and as we learned, comes with a need to also be generous and gracious. Many of the top teams and their mentors, make it a point to give back to the people of Baja in ways that aren't always noted. Either before a SCORE race or afterwards, these racers don't forget how important it is to give back and that in itself perpetuates the "legendary" status of the top riders in SCORE. It's amazing to myself and our SCORE Journal staff to see this time and time again, and as the newest generation of riders comes to the forefront during this 2025 season, we try to honor them, the people they support, and those who encourage the real principles of SCORE off-road racing.
