In 2025, the Texas Equine Foundation continued to fulfill our mission of providing a legacy of equine welfare, crisis relief and outreach. Horses are in crisis and most owners are not aware: allow them to ask questions, get insight and advice in a relaxed setting, while also helping to build collegial connections for the students when they are out in the world practicing equine veterinary medicine. We believe this must-faceted approach to supporting students has already begun to show success as each of these schools have begun to graduate students into equine practice. We are extremely proud of the growth Texas Equine Foundation has experienced, as well as the reach and impact it has had in its short history. To date, TEF has provided over $500,000 in disaster relief, aiding in massive natural disasters such as Hurricane Harvey in 2017, Hurricanes Ida and Laura in 2021, and the Panhandle fires of 2024. Providing relief to equines and veterinarians in time of need remains one of our primary purposes. In 58 | TEXAS EQUINE FOUNDATION W H A T I S T H E D O I N G ? With this in mind, TEF has set out to solve this problem through creating, partnering and supporting programs that introduce students of all ages to equine veterinary medicine. We have continued our partnerships with Lonestar Outreach To Place Ex-Racers (LOPE) and Texas A&M Agrilife—Veterinary Science Certificate Program. These programs allow us to introduce equine veterinary medicine to elementary, junior high, and high school students. Under the direction of Outreach Director Dr. Brittany Campbell, we have fine-tuned our support at veterinary schools in the TEVA regional area: Texas A&M, Texas A&M – VERO, Texas Tech, and Oklahoma State. These programs include mentorship/fellowship gatherings where veterinary students get face-to-face interaction with established practitioners. These gatherings
