In a world that often pulls families in every direction, Lisa and Todd Welch are helping bring them back to Christ. As longtime Catholic parents at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic STEM School in Wheat Ridge and Holy Family High School in Broomfield, the Welches are building a movement of faith-filled families. Their mission began with Families of Faith, a small group initiative that brings five to seven families together to grow in prayer, rediscover Catholic teaching and support one another in raising children rooted in faith. "It's a way we've grown in community with families," Lisa shared. "Now, more than ever, families need to be able to support each other while raising families with Catholic values." Their efforts extended to Holy Family High School. After witnessing the impact of the school's Ut Fidem teen discipleship program, they created a similar small group model for parents. "We wanted to offer the same companionship to parents," Lisa said, "because it's really important that parents also have a faith-filled community while raising teenagers." One unique feature of their parent groups is how they invite fathers into spiritual leadership. "As fathers, we have a duty to rise up and become leaders of the faith in our own homes," Todd said. "We've seen many fathers rise to this challenge, and it makes the faith life of the family even stronger." Together, the Welches are showing what it means to live a mission-oriented family life.
