SCORE JOURNAL 51 SHOP TOUR- MASON MOTORSPORTS ENGINEERING EXCELLENCE Inside Mason Motorsports' New Facility STORY AND PHOTOS BY MICAH ANDERSON i n 2015, Mason Motorsports built its first SCORE Trophy Truck in a modest 3,000-square-foot shop with just three employees. Ten years later, the company has grown exponentially, relocating to a state-of-the-art, purpose-built 25,500-square-foot facility. Now employing over 20 skilled craftsmen, Mason Motorsports continues to produce some of the highest-performing desert racing machines, dominating the top ranks of SCORE-International competitions. From Humble Beginnings to Off-Road Dominance Founded in 2004 by brothers Neal and Robert Mason, Mason Motorsports began as a small-scale operation with a shared passion for off-road racing and fabrication. They initially dabbled in building sand cars and creating performance parts for the Yamaha Rhino, a vehicle that would go on to define much of the company's early success. But as they learned and grew, the Masons realized they wanted to do more. The breakthrough moment came when Mason Motorsports entered the Best In The Desert Bluewater Grand Prix. They not only raced their new vehicle but won, marking their entry into competitive desert racing. Their commitment to improving the sport and pushing the boundaries of design quickly led to the creation of the ProRunner and the company's first successful desert truck. From there, the Masons honed their craft, achieving victory after victory in SCORE and dominating classes in state-side races, and later evolving their chassis to compete in the Trophy Truck Spec V8 category. As success grew, so did the demand for their vehicles.
