There are several advantages from a customer and user perspective for deploying
devices that do not need one or several battery-replacements during the lifetime of the
device. Those customers that have already experience with deploying battery-free IoT
solution claim to have following benefits :
Environmental: Eliminates battery waste, supports green initiatives.
Economic: Reduces total cost of ownership by eliminating maintenance.
Operational: Enables deployment in inaccessible or hazardous areas.
Scalability: Facilitates mass deployment with minimal logistical burden.
In general, customers typically will benefit from battery-free devices! Basically there is no
reason why devices need to be powered by batteries, unless power levels are required
that are higher than what energy harvesting can yield today. Much depends on the
requirements from a use case perspective.
