Literature
This sculpture will be included in the next edition of Henry
Moore, Complete Sculpture 1949-54, Volume 2, using the
Henry Moore Foundation reference number LH 278a.
Moore executed a group of Helmet Heads in lead in 1950.
The present sculpture was sold by Moore to Ann Zwinger in
1952. A label on the base of the sculpture connected the
work to the British Council touring exhibition to Scandinavia in
1952, where it was exhibited alongside another subsequently
destroyed Helmet Head. It is listed in the exhibition catalogue
and a photograph of the installation has been discovered. We
are very grateful to Mimmi Brandberg for assisting us with this
information.
