The Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (MLITSD) ergonomists are launching a campaign to raise awareness about hazards related to the handling and movement of materials in the retail sector. The initiative aims to support compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA). Focused workplace inspections will take place between June 2025 and March 2026. Inspectors will concentrate on the following key priorities: Musculoskeletal disorder (MSD) prevention Struck-by hazards Falls from ladders related to manual material storage and retrieval To support retailers in identifying and addressing these hazards and their unique challenges, WSPS has developed a range of helpful resources.
