METHOD RACE WHEEL QUALIFYING Moving To The Front By Dan Sanchez, Paul Hanson, Isaac Flores, and Cindy Clark Photos by Get Some Photo Racers wanting to start the 6th SCORE Baja 400 at the front of the 177 competitors in attendance, participated at the Method Race Wheel Qualifier on Thursday September 11th. The 3.3 mile qualifying course had SCORE Trophy Truck, 2WD Trophy Truck, TT Legends, Class1, and TT Spec competitors vying to start ahead of their class. This qualifier also puts competitors in each of these classes, starting in the order they qualified. This is a new rule that SCORE Race Director/President Jose Grijalva announced this season, starting with this SCORE Baja 400 race. Top Qualifiers In Each Class Taking the top spot was Toby Price in the No. 46 SCORE Trophy Truck, who competed the course in three-minutes and 58 seconds. In the SCORE TT Legends class, Ricky Johnson in the No. 1L truck, posted the fastest time of four minutes and three seconds, to give he and DOR Gus Vildosola Sr. the first starting position in their class. In the SCORE 2WD TT class, Mickey Lawrence in the No. 85T truck, took the pole position with a time of four minutes and 14 seconds. Taking the pole position in the SCORE TT Spec class was the No. 234 truck with Jason McNeil behind the wheel with a time of four minutes 17.24 seconds. Class 1 racers had tough competition but in the end, the No. 127 buggy with Cody Parkhouse behind the wheel took the top spot in class. The Method Race Wheel Qualifier was streamed live on SCORE’s social media sites and was commentated by Austin Farner and Nick Isenhouer, who hosted the qualifying from the SCORE Studio in El Cajon, California.
