MAKE IT TO THE FINISH Only The Strongest Survived In The Four-Wheel Classes By Dan Sanchez Photos by Get Some Photo It was tough going for the rest of the four-wheel classes, with many competitors dropping out due to vehicle breakdowns. This was also the case for Class 7 winner Dan Chamlee, who also had parts break on his Factory Racing No. 702 Ford Ranger. That didn’t deter him, however, from finishing and winning the class. “We had a great race and had some issues with a few components breaking, but we made it to the finish line anyway,” he said. Chamlee leads the Class in points to regain the Class Championship he lost in 2024 after a 19-season winning streak. In Class 5, Eli Yee continued his winning streak this season, adding his third in this race. Yee has a commanding lead to repeat as Class 5 Champion this season. While Yee has dominated the competition in his class, it was an all-out war for the finish in Class 1/2-1600. Plagued with DNFs throughout the season, several racers have made it to the podium, leaving the class at a tie for the championship. At the Baja 400, Abraham Marquez in the No. 1697 car won his first race of the season, upsetting Eric Pavolka, who DNF’d this race, but had a first and second place finishes this season. It was the same for 2024 Class Champion Daniel Goodrich in the No. 1600 car, who also had first and second place finishes this season, but DNF’d in this race. Currently, Pavolka and Goodrich are tied in points for the Class Championship. The only other four-wheel class racers to finish this tough course were Josh Klenske in Class 8, who finished in 12:36:15 in his No. 800 Ford truck, and Grant Ingram in the No.2081 car, winning the Class 2 category with a time of 12:13:40. For both of these racers, it was their first win and first race of the 2025 season. SJ • Eli Yee continued his winning streak in Class 5 Unlimited
