Despite ongoing health challenges, Walser pursued and fulfilled several of his dreams—one of the most cherished being to race in the legendary and iconic SCORE Baja 1000 in Mexico. Mike Walser’s life was a unique adventure across many parts of the world, especially throughout his beloved Baja California Peninsula, which became his second home. There, he formed a new family through his team, Walser Racing. At the age of 57, and hailing from Comfort, Texas, Mike bravely fought a lengthy battle against cancer. He remained a symbol of strength and willpower, supported closely by his family. Walser competed in multiple SCORE International events, first in Class 1 and later in the SCORE Trophy Truck division, driving one of the early model two-wheel drive trucks built by Mason Motorsports. In 2023, he achieved second place overall and in the SCORE Trophy Truck class at the SCORE Baja 500 alongside Ray Griffith. He also secured a third-place finish in the historic edition of the SCORE Baja 1000, which, for the first time, started in La Paz, Baja California Sur, and finished in the port city of Ensenada, Baja California. For years, Mike held a dream close to his heart—a dream he carried with him until the very end. Surrounded by respected Off-Road drivers such as Ryan Arciero, Christopher Polvoorde, and Ray Griffith, he left a lasting impression with his warmth and unwavering spirit. These fellow racers expressed deep sorrow and admiration at his passing. His brother, Rod Walser, served for many years as his co-driver and later as the second driver of SCORE Trophy Truck No. 89. He will carry on his legacy. In 2024, even as his illness progressed, Walser chose to include his family in various SCORE International races, giving them the opportunity to experience the deserts, mountains, and beaches of Baja California by his side. These journeys made every moment more meaningful. Now, his spirit will forever remain in this magical corner of Mexico, vaya con DIOS.
