How did you first get into photogra-
phy, specifically the shipping/water-
front scene?
I first got into photography back in 2023
when my friend and I were down at Canal
Park and saw the Great Republic come in
on Sept. 24. That started my obsession
with ship photography.
Is photography/videography your
primary profession? If not, what is
your "day job"?
My day job is working as a technician at
Cirrus Aircraft in Duluth.
What draws you to Lake Superior and
the working waterfront for images?
What really drew me into the port is that
massive ships come from all over the Great
Lakes and around the world to deliver or
pick up cargo here. Also, trying to get any
ships I haven't seen to add to my collection.
Do you have a personal connection
to Lake Superior or the shipping
industry?
I have a friend, who's like a brother to
me, that works for American Steamship
Company on the Burns Harbor.
Do you have additional focus areas
in photography?
My other focus in photography is avi-
ation. Although I don't make it to the
Twin Cities often, I always stop at MSP
when I can.
How would you describe your
photography work?
What brings me the most joy about my
photography is that it's a good way for me
to relax and enjoy the quiet time while a
ship comes in.
