Vehicles Of Change Frank Vessel's Chevrolet C10 pickup is one of many vehicles in SCORE racing history that have spawned new technologies and eventually led to the modern SCORE Trophy Truck. Owned and restored by Dennis McCarthy, this truck was well-known for ushering BFGoodrich Tires into Baja racing. But upon closer inspection of the truck, its current owner points out unique ideas and technology that, at the time, brought greater performance and off-road capabilities to off-road racing vehicles. By contrast, we also showcase Derickk Peña's Chevy Silverado pre-runner that has all the suspension and technology of a race truck, wrapped in a factory chassis and a comfortable and full interior. Both these vehicles demonstrate how both race vehicles of the past and modern pr-runners have a place with off-road racing enthusiasts. This annual show issue also showcases the latest in products and what's changing in the world of off-road and off-road racing. At the time we were putting this issue together, the 58th SCORE Baja 1000 was happening. So we congratulate the class and overall winners, and our SCORE Journal team will have exclusive interviews with racers and more details on their amazing adventure.
