BEFORE THE GREEN FLAG By SCORE Staff Photos by Get Some Photo RETURN OF ENSENADA WASH The Ensenada Wash has been a part of SCORE racing history, where race vehicles would leave the starting ramp on the city’s Boulevard Costero, and head into the wash and out into the desert. After a six-year hiatus, the wash returned to the course at the 58th SCORE Baja 1000, as the Rugged Radio Wash. Rugged Radios is the official radio communications of SCORE-International, and were proud to support the effort to get the wash back in use, and be right in the heart of Ensenada among thousands of SCORE fans. The wash, has drawn thousands of fans from around the world and had featured a huge ramp, and jump, before racers proceeded out into the Baja desert. The last time it was used was in 2019 for the inaugural SCORE Baja 400 race. Due to the efforts of SCORE International President and Race Director Abelardo Grijalva, along with Co-Race Director Rodolfo Fernandez, this section has returned, for the 58th SCORE Baja 1000, as the Rugged Radio Wash. SCORE worked closely with authorities from the 25th Municipality of Ensenada for several months to coordinate logistics so that the Ensenada Wash features a ramp on Second Street, serving once again as the first dirt section of this year’s 835.52-mile course.
