B R O N S T O N P H O T O G R A P H Y Dare we suggest that if you don't get married here, at least let our romantic city honeymoon with you? There's plenty to do for the newly hitched, from sunset cruises with Savannah Riverboat Cruises or Setwake Savannah to a horse-drawn tour of the downtown with Carriage Tours of Savannah. Stroll through Bonaventure Cemetery or down River Street, or book Savannah Black History Tours or Savannah for Morons, The Comedy Trolley Tour for a unique glimpse at our city. If you and your loved one prefer more action-packed adventures, try Tybee Shark Teeth Tours or Captain Joe's Dive Bar Ghost Walk. Because honeymoons are all about getting cozy, book a bungalow at Cohen's Retreat or try Oceanfront Cottage Rentals, which offers rentals on Tybee's beach. For true Southern hospitality, book the honeymoon suite at The Gastonian. License to Wed There is a three-step process to getting a marriage license in Savannah. First, complete an online application on the Probate Court website. Then, make an appointment to appear in person at the court, located at 133 Montgomery St. Finally, appear at your appointment with all necessary supporting documents, including a photo ID or a certified birth certificate. For more information, visit the Probate Court's website at courts.chathamcountyga. gov/probate/marriagelicenses. WEDDINGS IN THE SQUARES To be married in one of the Historic District's 23 squares in the presence of more than 50 people — or with any set-up involved — you must apply for a public assembly permit at least 30 days in advance. You also must hire an off-duty Savannah police officer for the duration of the event. Fees range from $350 to $750 for a four-hour event. For more information, visit the City of Savannah's website at savannahga.gov. WEDDINGS ON THE BEACH You must secure a $25 beach event permit from the City of Tybee no matter the size of your wedding. Be aware that no dogs are permitted on the beach, so your fur baby cannot be a ringbearer. For more information, visit the City of Tybee's website at cityoftybee.org or Southern Coastal Weddings at weddings. savannahmagazine.com.
