I don't recall ever being so smitten by the work of a contemporary artist.
I suggested that I visit his studio in Cardiff. Brendan was completely taken
aback: "In 30 years no London dealer has offered to visit my studio—in Cardiff!"
The studio consisted of two small rooms above a day centre for the elderly,
a modest space in which he painted, drew, made ceramics, and stored his work.
We looked through everything, and I ended up buying two paintings for myself.
A few months later I returned with my gallery colleague Brian Porter, who
shared my enthusiasm.
We exhibited a group of Brendan's works on our stand at the London Art Fair in
2014 and sold five, including the biggest and best, on the opening night. Since
then, we have held several exhibitions at Osborne Samuel, and his paintings
have been shown at multiple art fairs, including Masterpiece, Art Miami, and
Treasure House.
