OFF-ROADSMAN OF 2025 Voted As The Best Of The Best By SCORE Journal Staff Photos By Get Some Photo SCORE’s Off-Roadsman Awards recognizes various individuals and companies who contributed to the success of racers or the SCORE organization during the 2025 season. This year, those awards that are decided by online votes from SCORE members and fans for the nominees in those categories, reached a total of 37,425 votes. Other Off-Roadsman awards are decided by points earned throughout the season from finishing positions after each race. In a special moment during this portion of the night, Media Impact Journalist OTY, Ramon Astorga, of Cronicas del Desierto, and Photographer OTY, Rene Echeverria of Podio Media M/X Periodico el Viga, asked Kiana Sandez to accept their awards in honor of her father, Gabriel Sandez, who passed this season. ROOKIE OF THE YEAR For the first time in SCORE racing history, the SCORE Rookie of the Year came from Class 11, Rafael ‘Ralph’ Castillo of Eastvale, California. Racing with his son Antonio Castillo, as his second driver in the No. 1103 car, Ralph Castillo started the season by winning the SCORE San Felipe 250 and completed his championship rookie season by winning the SCORE Baja 1000 and also winning the 2025 Class 11 Championship. After his huge victory in the SCORE Baja 1000, Ralph Castillo commented, “It was great. It was a tough course but we made our way through and passed cars as often as we could. The rain got a little tough at the end but it was a great day. We won. In the first 20 miles we lost both batteries and we had to clean the car about race mile 65 and then we swapped out the alternator. It was nice starting in the Rugged Radios wash. It was different.
