M A R C H 2 0 2 6 | M H J ON L I N E . C O M 23 Growing up we played together quite a bit. I never really thought I'd get to play with him at the next level after high school, so it's really been fun." TYLER HENNEN Head coach and Detroit Lakes native Garrett Raboin has quickly turned Augustana into a competitor using local talent. The 2025-26 roster includes 12 players from the State of Hockey. LEADING AUGUSTANA Given their upbringing and their youth hockey journeys, that both Hayden and Tyler ended up at a small private university together—and share an apartment —makes perfect sense. Raboin, who was named an assistant coach of the U.S. National Junior Team for the second time in 2025, has had a front-row seat for the brothers' continued development and their sibling relationship. "They're very different people," Raboin said. "They both love their family, they both love the game, but they are unique individuals. Hayden is growing into a leadership role, which is really valuable. He's played a lot of minutes and in every situation for us. The greatest thing is how he's leading, how he's saying the right things to his teammates and how they look up to him as a junior. Tyler came in a year earlier than expected. He was a player that we felt was going to gain a lot just practicing with bigger, older, stronger players. He's got talent, he's smart, he can skate and he shoots the puck extremely well. He can do everything on the ice and he's got so much growth left, both physically and in his game. There's a very bright road ahead for both of those guys." Raboin believes that the Hennens' skill and the intangibles they bring are the direct result of their experiences and development in Hallock. "You can tell they've been around the game a lot," Raboin said. "They are rink rat hockey players. What drives them is they truly love the sport. They aren't kids that were dropped off by their parents because they had to go to an appointment. These kids want to be at the rink. They love staying around after practice is over and showing up before it starts. The kids who love the game and have ability, they've got a shot. And these kids have it. We're really fortunate to have them as part of our group." The Hennens are proud to be part of a new, up and coming program loaded with Minnesota players. "I think the sky's the limit for us," said Hayden. "Last year we had a good year and showed that we belong in the conference and finished second in the regular season. We have a lot of returners this year. I like how we've been playing we just need to find a bit of consistency. If we continue to do what we've been doing nothing is out of the picture."
