When Guerin makes a trade offer, he doesn't mess around. He doesn't like the whole game of offering teams packages that he knows they'd say "no" to, then slowly improving his offer. Like he does with negotiating contracts, he just gets to the number. So with Vancouver, he didn't play the game. Right from the outset, he showed he was serious by offering a package he didn't think the Canucks could refuse: Marco Rossi, Zeev Buium, Liam Ohgren and a 2026 first-round pick–or the equiva- lent to four first-round picks. After a couple conversations back and forth during the week that were really just check-ins, Guerin received a call on the evening of Dec. 12 while he was making meatballs that the Canucks had agreed to the trade. And with that, the Wild executed the biggest, most impactful trade in franchise history and one of the biggest in NHL history.
