Meeting A Safety Legend It's not often we get to meet some of the legends in motorsports, but when we do it's always an honor. For this issue, we met with Yves Morizot, who had dedicated his life to innovating and improving safety standards in all forms of racing. He told us that he wanted to be an F1 racer in the late 60's and discovered he wasn't fast enough. But after some of his friends, who were drivers, crashed and had serious injuries, he wanted to do something about it. Over his many decades working with F1 racers, including some of the legends like Jackie Stewart, Ayrton Senna, Alain Prost, Nigel Mansel and many others, Morizot also began looking into off-road racing and SCORE in particular. He worked closely with former SCORE owner Sal Fish to help develop safety standards, and continues to this day, working with the Normans and SCORE Safety Officials to offer new innovations they've discovered and share knowledge across other racing venues such as NASCAR, F1, and Indy Car racing. Much of the knowledge we get from interviewing people like Morizot, and his two sons Romain and Christopher, who have begun to take over the company business, it fuels our efforts to learn and disseminate the latest technologies that make racing safer. It was an honor to meet Yves and his imprint in dedication and the search for knowledge will stay with me and the rest of the SCORE Journal team forever.
