Denver Back On Top Pioneers Win Third National Championship In Past Five Years; 11th Overall An Unbelievable Finish ➔ Kyle Chyzowski redirected a shot from the point with 5:52 remaining in the 2026 Men's Frozen Four Championship as the University of Denver rallied for a 2-1 victory over Wisconsin on April 12 to win the national championship at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The championship is Denver's third in the past five years and record-setting 11th overall. Goaltender Johnny Hicks made 29 saves in the title game just two days af ter a care er-b e s t 49 s ave s in D enver 's 4-3 d ouble - over tim e w in over Michigan in the semifinals. Hicks did not lose once in regulation since taking over as DU's starting goalie, going 16-0-1. ➔ Af ter losing his family to a mass shooting during a hockey game in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, on Feb. 16, Colin Dorgan helped the Blackstone Valley Co-op win the Division 2 Rhode Island High School Hockey State Championship a month later on March 18. Dorgan tied the game with 30 seconds remaining before Jaxon Boyes won it during the fourth overtime inside Amica Mutual Pavilion. Dorgan had previously propelled his team to the finals with a goal in double overtime during the semifinals.
