26 AWARD WINNERS 2 0 2 6 M egan Goodreau, a senior forward from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, is the recipient of the 2026 Laura Hurd Award. The award, voted on by the nation's Division III head coaches, is presented to the best player at the NCAA Women's Division III level. Goodreau is the fifth player from UWRF to be so honored and third straight UWRF winner. With this award, UWRF pulls ahead of Middlebury College and SUNY Plattsburgh, each with four honorees. Goodreau, a senior co-captain from Lino Lakes, MN, led the Falcons to a 30-1-0 overall record, and UWRF's third consecutive NCAA Championship. En route, the Falcons captured the WIAC regular season and the O'Brien Cup. The WIAC championship game was particularly satisfying as the 4-0 win over UW-Eau Claire avenged River Falls' only loss of the season. Goodreau put together one of the most historic seasons in program and conference history. In a 6-3 win over UW-Eau Claire on Feb. 21 that clinched the WIAC regular season title, she became UW-River Falls' all-time leading scorer, surpassing former Hurd Award winner Callie Hoff. She also became just the third student-athlete in NCAA Division III women's hockey history to reach the 200-career-point milestone. Goodreau's 77 points and 37 goals both ranked first nationally this season and set single-season records for UW-River Falls and the WIAC. She has also set program and conference records with 18 power-play goals, the NCAA Division III single-season record. The runner-up for this year's Hurd Award is Natalie Stott (Franklin, MA), a senior goalie at Amherst College. The award is named in honor of former Elmira College star Laura Hurd who died in a car accident shortly after graduation. Hurd was a four-time All-American who led Elmira to victory in the first NCAA Division III Women's Ice Hockey Championship.
