DURING OPERATION 1. Keep hands clear: use push blocks when needed (i.e. face joining). 2. Position the workpiece: start with the most stable side of the board on the infeed table. 3. Align with the fence: use the fence to position and guide the work. 4. Feed with the grain: move the wood into the jointer with the grain. 5. Apply steady pressure: push slowly with consistent pressure over the cutterhead. 6. Maintain posture: stand next to the infeed table and walk the board over the cutterhead. 7. Repeat as needed: make several passes to achieve desired outcome. TIPS Clear the cutter: never start the jointer with the workpiece on or near the cutter. Use proper dimensions (consult equipment manual): – Min: 10" long, 3/4" wide, 1/2" thick, – Max: 6" wide. Do face joints first: always joint the face before the edge. Feed right to left: never joint boards left to right. Stay present: concentrate on the job, avoid distractions, never leave the jointer unattended while running. Clear jams safely: turn off jointer and wait for stop before clearing jams or removing obstructions POST OPERATION 1. Power down: turn off equipment and wait for all motion to stop. Never leave it running unattended. 2. Clean safely: use a vacuum, stick or brush to clean dust and debris. Do not use hands or compressed air. Only use equipment if you are trained and authorised to do so.
