PRE OPERATION 1. Prepare the workspace: clear the table except for the workpiece or stock. 2. Adjust cutting depth: adjust table heights, always adjust planer with power off and unit unplugged (if digital, set up following manufacturers set up instructions). 3. Select stock: only use with approved stock as per manufacturers recommendations including type, size and thickness. 4. Inspect the wood: avoid loose knots, defects, nails or foreign objects, or twisted, deformed or warped stock. 5. Start dust collector: turn it on before powering up the planer and starting the cut. 6. Select the speed: only adjust the speed when the machine is running. Do not change the speed while cutting as that will cause kickback. REQUIRED PPE Safety Glasses Hearing Protection Always wear all required PPE PRECAUTIONS 1. Inspect equipment - Do not use if equipment is damaged. 2. Inspect guards/shields - Do not use if guards/shields are missing or damaged. 3. Tie back long hair, ensure no loose clothing, remove jewelry, no gloves while machine is in operation. HAZARDS Cuts Entanglement Dust Noise Flying debris Kickback Report any issues or findings to your supervisor immediately Only use equipment if you are trained and authorised to do so.
