Summer 2026 | ahcahockey.com 2 As we move into the AHCA's 80th year, I would like to thank AHCA Vice President for Convention Planning Drew Michals, AHCA President Steve Wi e d l e r, A H C A Vi c e President for Women's Issues Grant Kimball, AHCA Vice President for Men's Issues Keith Fisher, and the rest of the AHCA Officers and Governors for providing leadership and direction leading up to and during the second AHCA Convention in Bonita Springs. We are already looking forward to next year and a Convention follow-up survey was sent out to help ensure continuous improvement. Based on the survey results and various suggestions received, the Board is planning to start the 2027 Convention at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 28 so that there will be adequate time for all of the speakers and meetings on Thursday. As the landscape of intercollegiate athletics continues to evolve, no sport has been more impacted than hockey. The many challenges have strengthened relationships and built even stronger bonds throughout all levels of the game. Our relationships with the Hockey Commissioners Association (HCA), USA Hockey and others will continue to be critically important as we work to make changes to more adequately showcase and grow the sport. We are currently working with the NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Oversight Committee and the NCAA Women's Ice Hockey Committee to enhance the capabilities of directors of hockey operations and adjust playing and practice seasons. There will also be several surveys sent over the next few weeks to gather information that has been requested by each Committee. The new more efficient governance process is working and there are more opportunities than ever before to provide input and shape the future of our sport! As always, if there is anything that I can help with, please reach out to me at forrestkarr@ ahcahockey.com or 608-347-9482. With best regards, Forrest Karr, AHCA Executive Director FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR Forrest Karr TO THE AHCA MEMBERSHIP
