PRE OPERATION 1. Inspect and prepare the workpiece: inspect for loose knots, splits, defects and foreign objects. Remove any excess material using appropriate saw prior to sanding. 2. Prepare the workspace: clear the table except for the workpiece or stock. 3. Set the miter gauge: use the miter gauge for added control of the workpiece during sanding. 4. Adjust worktable: ensure worktable for both disc and belt sanders are set to minimize the gap between the abrasive and the worktable to avoid pinch points. 5. Check the abrasive: ensure abrasive grit is in good working condition prior to use. 6. Support large material: use extra supports (tables, sawhorses, blocks etc.) for any workpieces large enough to tip when not held down to the tabletop. 7. Start the dust collector: turn on the dust collection system and ensure its working appropriately. REQUIRED PPE Safety Glasses Hearing Protection Always wear all required PPE PRECAUTIONS 1. Inspect equipment - Do not use if equipment is damaged. 2. Inspect guards/shields - Do not use if guards/shields are missing or damaged. 3. Keep sanding pads clean. 4. Tie back long hair, ensure no loose clothing, remove jewelry, no gloves during operation.
