Long hair, loose clothing and/or jewelry can be drawn into the machine. Secure the drive cover/guard with a tool-tight fastener to restrict access. Install fixed guarding to prevent access to motor, if exposed. Before use, remove loose clothing and jewelry, and tie back long hair. Sec. 25 (1)(a),(b),(d) OHSA Sec. 25 (2)(h) OHSA Sec. 24, 83 Reg. 851 B Gaps at the belt pulleys or a gap between the worktable and abrasive may present in-running nip and/or entanglement hazards. Secure the pulley covers/guards with tool-tight fasteners to prevent access. Install fixed guarding to prevent access to rotating components. Before use, adjust the worktable so the gap between the table and abrasive belt is minimized. Before using the equipment, remove loose clothing and jewelry, and secure any long hair to prevent entanglement. Sec. 25 (1)(a),(b),(d) OHSA Sec. 25 (2)(h) OHSA Sec. 24, 83 Reg. 851 C Burns – the abrasive surface can become very hot, especially when sanding large pieces or running the sander for long periods of time. Ensure abrasive is not handled with bare skin. Abrasive can be a burn hazard without proper time to cool down before handling. Sec. 84, Reg. 851 D Debris from the workpiece can be thrown toward the operator during sanding, and worn sanding media may also cause material to be ejected. Use protective eyewear and/or face shield. Follow machine and tool maintenance recommendations from the manufacturer. Prior to using the sander, check workpiece for nails, staples, knots, or other defects.
