DURING OPERATION 1. Keep hands clear: stay away from blade area, keep hands at least 15cm (6") from blade; never reach around, under, or behind the saw. 2. Extend saw blade: extend sliding blade to necessary length for material width (if equipped). 3. Bring to full speed: with hand on the trigger mechanism, allow blade rotation to reach full speed before starting to cut. 4. Lower blade slowly: lower blade to the full depth slowly to perform a plunge cut. 5. Slowly advance cut: start a slow push cut forward. Do not force the blade. Do not pull spinning blade towards you to cut (pull cut). 6. Full stop: ensure blade has come to complete stop prior to raising blade to resting position. 7. Remove hand from trigger: remove hand from trigger and remove workpiece from the saw. TIPS Power off to adjust: make all adjustments with the machine off. Do not force the blade: use gradual pressure to make the cut, do not force the blade. Do not bypass self-adjusting guard: do not adjust, bypass or remove self-adjusting guard. Do not use pull cuts: do not cut a workpiece by pulling the blade through the material, always use a push cut for mitre saws. Stay present: concentrate on the job, avoid distractions, keep hands back at least 15cm (6") from blade. Secure workpiece: secure the workpiece, and support on both sides of blade, especially when cutting long stock. Round workpieces should always be secured to prevent pull in. Never cross hands: do not support workpiece with hand in front or behind of saw blade. Do not support or operate cross handed (i.e. holding stock to the right of the saw blade with left hand). Let go safely: if the stock slips release trigger and wait until the blade is fully stopped before adjusting stock, never try to hold onto the piece if it kicks, jams, or rides up the material. POST OPERATION 1. Power down: release trigger, allow blade to come to full stop, then raise cutting edge only after complete stop. 2. Remove materials once motion has stopped, remove clamps, work stock and cut offs. 3. Clean safely use a vacuum (when appropriate), stick or brush to clean dust and debris. Do not use hands or compressed air. Only use equipment if you are trained and authorised to do so.
