Ensure the adjustable blade guide is positioned properly for the workpiece. Ensure the blade beneath the worktable is guarded to prevent access. Use push sticks or push pads to keep hands away from the blade while moving the workpiece. Sec. 25 (1)(a),(b),(d) OHSA Sec. 25 (2)(a),(d),(h) OHSA Sec. 25, Reg. 851 B The drive system on the saw can create entanglement hazards. Long hair, loose clothing and / or jewelry can be drawn into the machine. Secure the drive cover/guard with a tool- tight fastener to restrict access. Before use, remove loose clothing and jewelry, and tie back long hair to reduce the risk of entanglement. Sec. 25 (1)(a),(b),(d) OHSA Sec. 25 (2)(h) OHSA Sec. 24, 83, Reg. 851 C The workpiece can kickback and be thrown towards the operator at high speed. This can be caused by material binding at the blade, regular shaped/warped material, or incorrect feeding of the workpiece. Use protective eyewear and or face shield. Prior to using the saw, check workpiece for nails, staples, knots, or other defects. For irregular shaped objects, support the workpiece to avoid binding. Maintain control over the workpiece while moving it through the blade. Damage to the blade can also cause debris to be thrown from the machine. Use protective eyewear and/or face shield. Follow machine and tool maintenance recommendations from the manufacturer. Ensure the machine is secured to the floor to prevent tipping. Portable bandsaws should have a proper stand or mobile base set on a level surface.
