Dublin LGFA are once again honoured to have members
of the Murphy family with us here at Parnell Park this
evening.
Our Senior Club Championship trophy is named in
memory of the late Michael Murphy.
Michael was a trainee pilot with Aer Lingus who
died tragically in an accident on the 9th of May 1989
alongside his colleague Jim Byrne and their training
instructor in a plane crash whilst training in Vero Beach,
Florida.
The Murphy family donated a cup in Michaels memory
to Dublin LGFA back in 1991.
The original cup has since been retired from service
with a new cup in Michaels honour presented for the
first time in 2023.
