Having had a long-playing career Finbarr took up the whistle about twenty-five years ago and has refereed County finals in both the Men's and Ladies code in all grades. A member of the Leinster Provincial Inter-County panel for over twelve years Finbarr has also refereed a number of Provincial finals at both Club and Inter-County level along with the University finals in Britain and the All-Britain Competition which takes place in London each year, he is currently a member of the National Linesperson panel. "It's a great honour and privilege to be chosen to referee the Dublin senior county final tonight and I am very grateful for the opportunities afforded to me by Dublin LGFA over the years. I would like to acknowledge the support of the County board in my refereeing journey to date, in particular our referee co-ordinators Stephen, Michelle and Paul previously and our Chairperson Joe Keane and of course the late Mary O'Connor who we miss dearly".
