Issue 54 / 2013 CLUB South Plastic people 147-149 Curtain Road, London EC2 events Point Blank Radio began life in 1994 when they were trying to get some quality house music out to listeners. Still going strong today, the Station offers a wide range of music from funk, jazz and soul to liquid drum and bass, tech and breakbeat although the main focus of the station continues to be house music. The station can be heard throughout the UK and is now also available worldwide via their website. Point Blank sets itself apart from most commercial radio stations by refusing to follow trends or change direction. The station keeps it LABEL OF THE MONTH events Situated in the heart of the city centre, yet far removed in style and substance, Newcastle's theCUT is the city's top club for those looking for something a little different. Special events breaking down different genres from house to hip-hop to dubstep to disco. Similarly with theCUT, Plastic People doesn't stick to just one genre, it embraces techno, house, hip-hop and other more experimental nights. Plastic People also welcomes big named DJs through its doors. DRINKS DRINKS For around £5 entry each night and reasonably priced drinks, theCUT is not only an individual but inexpensive experience for all music lovers. With entry usually in the region of £5£10 depending on the night, Plastic People is still reasonably priced for the unique style it provides its patrons week in week out. VIBES VIBES The atmosphere of the club is completely underground. Nights like Tuesday's Rub a Dub Dub (dubstep/ dnb/electro) pride themselves on being totally non-serious and nonjudgmental – a theme that runs through the rest of the nights too. Plastic People is a tiny basement club in the heart of East London's Shoreditch.
