Greyhounds Battle Boilermakers To The End
Boilermakers win 22nd straight exhibition contest
Purdue 80,
University of Indianapolis 73
Oct. 30, 2013, Mackey Arena
The Boilermaker band was
in the Halloween Spirit a day
before the holiday.
A.J. Hammons was in street clothes serving
the first game of this three game suspension, leaving Travis Carroll (left) and Jay
Simpson to fill in. Carroll, who drew the
start, had three blocks in 22 minutes, along
with five rebounds. Simpson came off the
bench to grab five rebounds and score 10
points in 20 minutes.
Several members of both teams
are involved in a scramble for a
loose ball. Coach Matt Painter said
he felt the Greyhounds "wanted
it more" than his team. Still, for
a first exhibition game, the contest was relatively mistake-free
from a turnover perspective: The
Boilermakers committed just nine
to 13 for the visitors.
Kendall Stephens came off the
bench to provide some shooting
pop in his first college game. The
St. Charles, Ill., native hit a teamhigh three from deep and was
one of five Boilermakers in double
figures with 11 points.
