No changes After the banquet — and between weeks of traveling for recruiting — Hazell said he anticipates retaining his coaching staff for 2014. Hazell can't predict movement of each coach's volition, but he said he personally would not make any changes. He assembled quite a diverse staff before the year, ranging in age and familiarity. Three coaches worked under Hazell at Kent State, including two of the staff's youngest in Marcus Freeman and Jafar Williams, but he also pulled in coaches he'd had no prior affiliation as coordinators (John Shoop, Greg Hudson). All-star attendees Allen and defensive tackle Bruce Gaston have accepted invitations to play in the EastWest Shrine Game. The game, broadcast on the NFL Network, will be played Jan. 18 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla. It'll make back-to-back years in which a Boilermaker has played in the game. Josh Johnson played last season. Gaston, a four-year starter, is the first defensive lineman to play in the game for Purdue since Mike Neal in 2010. Each year, the players visit a Shriners Hospital for Children as part of the game-week activities. Bush honored Tom Campbell DeAngelo Yancey led Purdue in receiving yards in his first season, helping him be among BTN.com analyst Tom Dienhart's "All-Freshman Team" picks. Receiver Gary Bush was named the fourth recipient of the Pop Warner National College Football Award this week. The award recognizes a Pop Warner alumnus who has made a difference on the field, in the classroom and in PURDUE PRIDE Purdue's leading receiver in 2013, as a potentially potent 1-2 at tight end. "There probably won't be two tight ends in our conference and very few in the country who have played more," Sinz said before the end of the season. "So we're excited about that. We just need him to get healthy and work throughout the offseason and go all in for next year."
