SINGAPORE – InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has open the first Holiday Inn Express in the city of Jakarta, Indonesia. The brand new 101-room Holiday Inn Express Jakarta Thamrin is the first Holiday Inn Express hotel to open in the region this year and is situated in the heart of Jakarta's Central Business District (CBD), close to vibrant shopping and entertainment precincts. "The New Year has kicked-off to a great start with the opening of Holiday Inn Express Jakarta, making it the second Holiday Inn Express to open in Indonesia in the last three months. With 12 more Holiday Inn Express hotels in the pipeline, Indonesia will continue to be an important growth market for us over the next few years. Jakarta sees more than two million visitors each year and is known as one of the region's top shopping destinations. With the new hotel situated on the city's busiest road, this makes it the smart choice for travellers wanting to stay close to major business hubs and tourist attractions," said Clarence Tan, Chief Operating Officer, South East Asia and Resorts, IHG. Getting to Holiday Inn Express Jakarta Thamrin upon arrival is an easy one hour drive from Soekarno Hatta International Airport. For business travellers, the hotel's great location at Thamrin means they will be minutes away from major multinational business headquarters, banks, embassies and government offices. Tourists can also take a walk along Thamrin's broad sidewalks to famous shopping malls such as Plaza Indonesia and Grand Indonesia or have an exciting night out at stylish bars, such as Zen Bar and Skye Bar, popular among tourists and locals alike. Guests staying at Holiday Inn Express Jakarta Thamrin during the weekends will also be in for a treat as the locals celebrate Car Free Day along Thamrin and neighbouring streets every Sunday from 6.00am to 11.00am. During this weekly affair, the busy boulevards in Jakarta's CBD are transformed into effervescent, people-friendly zones where thousands of locals gather to enjoy a refreshing morning away from traffic. Holiday Inn Express Thamrin is the fifth Holiday Inn Express hotel in South East Asia, and the second in Indonesia. The hotel opening follows the successful launch of Holiday Inn Express hotels in Semarang, Bangkok, Phuket and Singapore. In the coming months, Indonesia will welcome three more Holiday Inn Express hotels: Holiday Inn Express Bali Kuta Square, Holiday Inn Express Bali Raya Kuta and Holiday Inn Express Jakarta Pluit Citygate.
