ALBUM OF THE MONTH
GET WISE - BY HORACE ANDY
TRACK OF THE MONTH
WELCOME THE KING - BY EXCO LEVI
One of the brightest rising stars in
Reggae to emerge this decade, Exco
Levi has come out with one of those
tracks you just can't stop listening to.
What would you expect
of Horace Andy on vocals,
with Phil Pratt producing
and Sly and Robbie, Dougie
Bryan, Earl Chinna Smith,
Fully Fullwood and Santa
Davis playing the rhythms?
Beyond that, the record
nicely captures the magic
of vinyl and given the time
and the money involved
in the project, this work
couldn't get any better.
Exco Levi is only just
starting, and his consistency
and talent will surely,
inevitably gain the respect
of Reggae fans everywhere.
It doesn't feel like a surprise
that "Welcome the King",
the artist's latest single,
is climbing all the Reggae
charts. You might call it
revival music, but we all
know that Reggae never
died. So we might as well
call it a classic.
Despite the success 'The Money Makers' gained, the true
depth of Ziggy Marley's talent was not all that clear until
he went solo – earning a Grammy award for 'Love is My
Religion', and for the sequel 'Family Time'; an album that
touched the hearts of youngsters everywhere, and earned
him his second Grammy for 'Best Musical Album for Chil-
dren'. Ziggy continues to inspire fans who anxiously await
the release of his fourth album 'Fly Rasta' on 14th April.
Shortly after, he will be heading to London, set to make a
grand appearance at Electric Brixton on 23rd April.
