Instead, it is full steam ahead for the most popular social travel site. TripAdvisor has announced that a localised version of its award- winning mobile app has been soaring up the China app store rankings and has been selected for "Best New App" on Apple's China App store. Launched under TripAdvisor's China brand (DaoDao.com), the app download rate is growing rapidly and has now crossed over 10k downloads a day on iOS. DaoDao's app has reached Top 5 and Top 10 free travel apps in China for iPad and iPhone respectively purely from organic and word-of-mouth user downloads. In addition, TripAdvisor has launched a new local domain website in Vietnam. Vietnamese travellers can now access traveller reviews and ratings on a localised TripAdvisor website, providing them with more relevant content to help them more effectively research and plan their travel, as well as contribute reviews and opinions of their own. This year alone TripAdvisor launched local sites in South Africa, the Philippines, New Zealand and Austria. The expansion of TripAdvisor into new markets demonstrates the company's continued focus on robust international growth, delivering more localised experience to travellers around the world. TripAdvisor currently operates in 39 countries with plans to expand its footprint into new markets throughout the year. These moves point to the company aggressively seeking new avenues of growth to stay one step ahead of the competition, which includes social travel sites like Gogobot.com, which in August 2013 was cited by businessinsider.com as being fastest growing travel site on the web, with 3.7 million registered users, according to data from Comscore and eMarketeer.
