there, on to 2007, until I started producing music. SO YOU'VE MADE A LOT OF PROGRESS DURING A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. Yeah, it depends how you see it. My first release was in 2008, and from there on it was a constant progress. So, it was 2005 when I went to the agency at credenza. I spent two years with credenza; that was a big step for me, and from now, to three years ago, I left credenza, and I'm now with a new agency, Artist Alife. So now I'm getting a little bit of an individual profile, not too much, linked to a brand. YEAH, OF COURSE, OF COURSE. It's always good to be with a brand, but it's also very important for you as an artist to be an individual artist, be your own (self). YOUR OWN BRAND. Exactly. OKAY, SO YOU'VE HAD A CONSISTENT FLOW OF PRODUCTIONS RELEASED OVER THE YEARS, WHICH HAS LED YOU TO BECOME PART OF THE ELITE. WHAT WAS THE TURNING POINT, WHEN YOU KNEW THINGS WERE STARTING TO HAPPEN FOR YOU? WHAT WAS THAT TURNING POINT? The first release for me. The first release I had. Nowadays, it's about how you gain attention from outside of your entourage, your circle. Nowadays, if a DJ uploads a mix he did, nobody outside of his circle is probably going to listen to it, so when you have your first release all of a sudden, you get requests from different countries and different cities all over the world, and it was for me the turning point, where I realised something is happening. I'm getting booked in London, I'm getting booked in Ibiza, I'm getting booked in France, like what's going on here. THAT'S PRETTY AMAZING FOR YOU TO HAVE THAT ON YOUR FIRST RELEASE. SOME ARTISTS, THEY KIND OF PUT OUT A FEW TRACKS HERE AND THERE (ETC) AND THEN THEY'RE STILL KIND OF SEARCHING FOR THAT ONE TRACK THAT'S GONNA GET THEM ON A PEDESTAL. Times have changed. Nowadays, for sure; it's not easier with all the digital music. In 2008, you had it already, but people were looking at the physical market. Now it's easier. We were, we're still in a very good time. During 2008/2009, this whole new wave contributed to that, with labels like Cecille, from Nick Curly, Deep Vibes, from Sascha Dive. All these small labels hustled from Mannheim. They all have hype at this moment. There are a lot of new producers and music coming out at this time. We've got a lot of attention at this moment. THE WAY PEOPLE DJ AND MAKE MUSIC IS FURTHER EVOLVING. WHAT NEW TECHNOLOGIES HAVE YOU EMBRACED, INTO A - THE STUDIO, AND B- INTO DJ'ING? In DJ'ing, it was for me, already a big step to go away from playing with records. It was almost three years ago now; two track tour, which was for me, already a big step. I don't know where the journey will end. I still like to use turntables to control my music. Studio wise, I'm actually making steps back. I started completely digital; that means only with the sequencer tool, and playing around with UST plugins and samples. Over the last year, I've had more and more analogues and machines around me to play around more. IF YOU WERE NOT A DJ PRODUCER, WHAT WOULD YOU BE DOING NOW? (LAUGHS) I would probably…I'm guessing… I think I would work in a pretty boring job or something. I studied economics, which I quit, due to my career. I have no idea what I'd do. I wouldn't be happier than I am now. I would probably open a juice bar. I'm really into juices and smoothies.! 7 17 Issue 63 / 2014 HOUSE / ELECTRIC guestlist.net "It's always good to be with a brand, but it's also very important for you as an artist to be an individual artist." follow @Robert Dietz 1.
