SECRET CINEMA TAKE US BACK TO THE FUTURE The town of Hill Valley, home of Marty McFly in Back to the Future, will be erect- ed in an undisclosed part of London this summer as the latest venture from the Secret Cinema Presents... brand. So far they've showcased 40 screenings of clas- sic and significant films, with the most recent seeing a building in Farringdon miraculously transformed into the world of The Grand Budapest Hotel. Now ven- turing further into the interactive experi- ence, the potential for Back to the Future is very exciting indeed. For those of us who have longed to be transported back in time in a Delorean, the time for wait- ing is finally over. A Delorean DMC-12 will be transporting guests through time zones and secret alleys into the fictional town of Hill Valley for the screening. Se- cret Cinema founder Fabien Regall has revealed: "We shall play heavily on the innocent dream-like world of 1955 and the nostalgic pre-mobile phone world of 1985. We want audiences to forget their current world and take an adventure." "A section of the audience shall play out the narrative of Marty McFly, being thrown into a time machine and transported into another existence and others will become part of the 1955 and 1985 world before." This pretty much sounds like the most fun anyone could ever have. For the cost of £53, it's not cheap, but if you're a die- hard Marty Mcfly fan, it's certainly worth it for the rare taste of time travel. When tickets first became available, the site was instantly overloaded with hopeful visi- tors, so if you want to get your hands on one, you'll really have to fight for it. The London based cinematic group will be re-creating the world of the 80s time-travel classic for a series of special screenings this summer. 7 47 Issue 64 / 2014 FILM guestlist.net Hercules August 8th: We're all aware of the age-old tale of Hercules - the demi-god who needs to realise his full potential on earth. This 2014 re-boot is set after the initial events of the original myth and sees Hercules as an exiled mercenary, hired for his muscle by people in high places. When the benevolent ruler of Thrace and his daughter seek his help, he must become the hero that he was born to be in order for justice to prevail.Dwayne 'The Rock', 'The Tooth Fairy' Johnson stars as the muscular main man, a choice that puts the film within the category of an all-out action fantasy. Let's hope that this isn't just a barrage of battle scenes and special effects with little substance, we'll just have to wait and see. COMING SOON Lucy July 25th: From Leon: The Professional to The Fifth Element, astounding director Luc Besson has brought us some of the greatest, most complex female heroes in cinematic history. This August will see Scarlett Johansson star in Lucy, the story of a woman who, when unfortunately caught in the middle of a backwards deal, turns the tables on her captors and evolves into a powerful and highly evolved human who's logic and strength is trans- formed through unlocking her full human potential. Johansson's performance in Under The Skin last year showed the world her extensive ability to fill an extremely complex lead role and we can't wait to see her reach this level in Lucy. The film also stars Academy Award winner Morgan Freeman. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes July 17th: The much anticipated follow-up to the 2011 prequel sees a world war between genetically evolved apes and the last surviving humans. Shortly after a fragiled peace, both sides are forced into a battle to prevail as the planet's dominant species. Matt Reeves directs a strong cast including Gary Oldman and Andy Serkis
