NJPA has allowed me to streamline our procurement process and I always know that I will have a worry-free project. The interlocking mats allowed us to install the flooring on the ice rink perimeter without concerns about ambient temperatures and the hassle of moisture testing. The interlocking mats provide us a vulcanized product that fills the demands of our building by handling heavy skate traffic while still displaying a look that fits the aesthetics of our facility. Vulcanization is a process that improves the physical properties of synthetic rubber by increasing the tensile strength and resistance to swelling and abrasion. The product is also easy to clean and we have the ability to change out individual pieces that may wear after time in high-traffic areas. The glued-down rubber mat in the locker rooms is an affordable vulcanized product that is a great alternative to traditional crumb rubber and urethane- based rolled goods. We were able to find a colored fleck that would look great and serve us for years to come. Both products we selected carry a five-year warranty. We also added new backer panels to our dasher boards in addition to the rubber. This further enhanced the new look we were going for and made for a streamlined cleaning process. We have new rubber flooring and we are no longer removing garbage from the dasher frames. Crews came in and started on the removal of the old flooring — a process that is handled through the use of a riding hydraulic floor scraper. The machine removes the old rolled flooring in strips. The strips are discarded and crews remove the remaining adhesive to prepare for the installation of the new floor. It is important that the concrete be free of obstruction, as the flooring will only be as good as the concrete underneath. The installation crew also conducted moisture tests in the locker rooms to ensure a worry-free installation. Any flooring replacement requires % After , Edge Ice Arena chose to continue with a dual-layered product in the lobby and rink perimeter areas. The product and color selections are an extremely important part of this process, as this is what our customers will see on a daily basis and what we as the end user will maintain long into the future.
