Art ne of digital output for long-term decorative art solutions," says Garrabrants, who has been thinking about digital reproduc- tions of Fransioli's and Sheldon's work for the last 20 years. The technology to do it simply didn't exist until recently. These days, Garrabrants employs a robotic camera mount to take pho- tographs of Fransioli's and Sheldon's paintings. He may take upwards of 500 pictures before "stitching" them to- gether to make high-resolution, archival- quality digital reproductions. "It's a real win-win situation," he says. "If we had to paint something that [big], it would take ages and it would be expensive…it's the new revolution in wallpaper." Through the medium of digital print- ing, Garrabrants creates museum-quality giclée wallpapers using canvas, fabric, or paper and inks with a 200-year rating. The beauty is that they can be replaced if dam- aged, or removed and rehung elsewhere. Nature Inspired Peacock feathers and mackerel scales (opposite) are among Garrabrants's materials for creating digital compositions. gary anderson ad.pdf 1 8/29/2014 12:44:01 PM
