Bronze testimony to Yankee ingenuity, the Porter Garden Telescope, designed in 1923 by Russell Porter of MIT, caught the eye of John D Rockefeller and became the model for the 200" Hale telescope he was funding. This lovely marriage of art and science thus landed in the Smithsonian. Forty years later, Fred Schleipman, an inventor from Norwich, VT, was smitten by the telescope and driven to orchestrate its reintroduction with vastly superior optics. Limited to 200, this permanent bronze installation is an Art Nouveau centerpiece, telescope, working sundial and conversation piece whose optics are easily removed. Cast and machined in New England, this heirloom instills wonder across generations, serving up a deeply memorable experience for adults and children alike. 617-292-5155 info@gardentelescopes.com gardentelescopes.com Porter Garden Telescope
