Students awarded viticulture scholarships The Independent Grape Growers of the Paso Robles Area (IGGPRA) announced the recipi- ents of its scholarships for the 2014-15 aca- demic year. They are Adam Hinrichs, a graduate of Templeton High School, and Linda Jaimez, a fourth-year viticulture major at California State University, Fresno. Eck named assistant winemaker at Fess Parker Tyler Eck is the new assistant winemaker at Fess Parker Winery & Vineyard in Santa Bar- bara County. Eck previously worked at a win- ery in the Rhone Valley of France as well as in New Zealand and at Peay Vineyards in Cloverdale. Details: fessparkerwines.com. Madrigal winery opens new tasting room Madrigal Family Winery has opened a tasting room in Sausalito. The new location comple- ments the existing tasting room at the estate winery in Napa Valley. The Madrigals have grown grapes in the Napa Valley since the 1930s. Madrigal Family Winery is part of Bac- chus Capital Management's portfolio of win- eries in California and Oregon. Details: madrigalfamilywinery.com. New estate director for Brand Napa Valley Greg Gregory is the new estate director at Brand Napa Valley winery located in the Pritchard Hill area of Napa Valley. Gregory will oversee the winery's sales and marketing, winemaking and philanthropic programs. Gregory is the former client service manager at Staglin Family Vineyard, also in Napa Val- ley. Details: brandnapavalley.com. Frey joins Dusted Valley as winemaker Griffin Frey is the new winemaker for Dusted Valley Vintners in the Walla Walla Valley of Washington. Frey will oversee the Dusted Val- ley program as well as the company's other label, Boomtown. Frey got his start at wineries in Sonoma County, Calif., and has worked in the Washington wine in- dustry since 2010. Details: dustedvalley.com. Winemaker McDermott joins Township 7 Township 7 Vineyards & Winery in Penticton, B.C., announced Mary McDermott is the win- ery's new winemaker. McDermott joins Town- ship 7 from Trius Winery at Hillebrand in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario. Details: town- ship7.com. Winemaker joins Serendipity Estate Serendipity Estate Winery in Penticton, B.C., announced winemaker Bradley Cooper had joined its production team in time for the 2014 harvest.
