7 Issue 67 / 2014 TRAVEL guestlist.net 5. St. Mary Basilica St. Mary Basilica is in the middle of the main square. It is a magnificent Brick Gothic church re-built in the 14th Century. On every hour, a trumpet signal—called the Hejnał mariacki—is played from the top of the taller of St. Mary's two towers. Inside the Basilica there is a gilded crown of 1666, and a sculptural masterpiece: an Altarpiece of Veit Stoss of late Gothich design. 1. Wawel Royal Castle The Gothic Wavel Castle was built at the behalf of Casimir III the Great. It consists of a num- ber of structures situated around the central courtyard. The Castle and the Wawel Hill constitute the most historically and culturally important site in Poland. It has been the symbol of Polish state- hood and the residence of the kings of Poland for centuries. 3. Planty Park Planty is one of the biggest park of the city. The park has an area of 21,000 square metres and a length of 4 kilometers. It con- sists of a chain of thirty small- er gardens designed in varied styles and adorned with numer- ous monuments and fountains. The park forms a scenic walk- way popular with Cracovians. In summer,sprinkled with ponds and refreshment stalls, it is a cool and shady retreat from the nearby bustling street. 2. Historic Centre - Old Town Chosen for the UNESCO'S origi- nal World Heritage, Kraków Old Town is an enchanting medieval market square. This 13th century merchants' town is home to Eu- rope's largest market square and offers various historical houses places and churches, including Jagiellonian University and an- cient synagogues and the Goth- ich cathedral. 4.Schindler's list factory Museum The building was a metal item factory. Nowadays it is divided in two parts and host: the museum of contemporary art and the His- torical Museum of the City. Inside the entrance there is also a gallery with all the names and pictures of the people who has been saved by Oskar Schindler. The place has seen a rise of popularity after the eponymous Spielberg's movie. 47 KRAKOW Krakow is just a dreamlike place: you visit it and you think you are living in a Disney-like movie. It is a fascinating, enchanting and roman- tic city. There are a lot of places to visit, including magnificent historic cathedrals and castles.
