Pump Baskets It may still be possible for some debris to get through and end up in the pump. This is why your pump also has a basket which catches these particles. Clever isn't it? You will need to check the pump basket and empty it from time to time – while the pump and filter are not operating. The pump has a clear lid so you can easily see if the pump basket requires emptying. The water is pumped through the filter to take out any suspended particles or contaminants. The filtered water is then returned by the pump to the pool through the eyeballs (they look like eyeballs too) located on the wall/s of the pool. Your pool builder would have set the eyeballs to obtain the best circulation of the water. Your pool is really no different to a beautiful clear and clean babbling brook. Nature does the pumping and the rocks, pebbles and sand do the filtering. Depending on the brand of your pump, the pump basket may look something like this. The pump basket is smaller than the skimmer basket . A typical Eyeball 4 Your pump basket is located beneath the clear lid on top of your pump.
