ALBUM OF THE MONTH
RHODES - HOME EP
TRACK OF THE MONTH
EX-COPS - WHITE NOISE
When talking about
Rhodes, real name David
Rhodes, words like 'moody'
and 'mysterious' are ones
that get bandied more
often than any other. Well,
apart from words like
'incredible' and 'voice'. He's
already got two EPs to
his name and has opened
for massive acts such as
London Grammar, Laura
Mulvey, and fellow Herts
boy Sam Smith. So it's
surprising how he's not a
household name already.
But with the release of this
fantastic EP, get ready to
hear Rhodes' name and
music a lot more!
The British singer-songwriter released
his third EP this month.
Don't be deceived by the
upbeat opening. Don't
be deceived by Amalie
Bruun's soft vocals. In fact,
expect the unexpected
from this great track. The
upbeat tone intermittently
gets overtaken by a heavy
metal, intense influence.
Bruun's vocals start soft
but get more and more
powerful showcasing her
fantastic voice. A brilliant
and powerful track. We
can't wait for the full album!
The most recent track whets our appe-
tite for the big release of their new al-
bum 'Daggers'.
Alt-J's first album "An Awesome Wave" came out only two
years ago, and it indeed made massive waves in the scene.
They came out of nothing, but quickly won everyone's
heart over. "This Is All Yours", their second album that
came out in September, exceeded all of our high expecta-
tions. "Arrival in Nara" gives us the typical Alt-J harmonies,
while "Left Hand Free" are new sounds that take us on a
US-highway. Alt-J grew up and they go big now, selling
tickets for The O2 in London next year. Make sure to get
your tickets real quick, because this concert will be huge.
