The Delta Park is owned by the township and is operated by a coun- cil-appointed management board of which Carr is a member. Minutes of the park board's Oct. 21 meeting were put online on Friday afternoon as part of the council package for Mon- day's council meeting and caught the attention of Paula Banks. "Councilor Carr ques- tioned the possibility of selling Lower Beverley Lake Park either through the sale as a business or by dividing the park into lots for private sale. The meeting has come after months of insistence and multiple letters by the Township of Rideau Lakes for the MOE to provide information to the public on groundwater condi- tions. An academic study funded by the Ministry of the Environment and pub- lished last year by Queen's University researcher con- cluded that the potability of groundwater resources on a larger scale was unlikely to be captured with infrequent domestic well sampling. The publication fol- lowed sampling of moni- toring wells in the village over a three-year period at a variety of depths. The sampling, on a wide variety of parame- ters, suggested to researchers that fecal pol- lution could be every- where in the village of Portland along with traces of pharmaceuticals and personal care products.
