30 REGGAE / DANCE HALL guestlist.net Issue 69 / 2014 ARTIST OF THE MONTH GROUNDATION A 9-piece band from North California that fuse the spirit of jazz, angelic vocals and high energy roots reggae. OUR PLAYLIST A Wah So? Black Roots Here Comes Trouble Chronixx Rudeboy (Original Mix) Emapea Gun Shot (Jinx in Dub Remix) Dub Pistols, Rodney P Darrison Here's the Reggae on our playlist this month: ALBUM OF THE MONTH BLACK ROOTS: "GHETTO FEEL" TRACK OF THE MONTH SHAGGY - IF U SLIP U SLIDE The Bristolian roots representatives have been making inspiring vibes since the 80s. With this new release comes yet another meaningful and intimate compilation of sound. Their motivating melodies throughout are not only aimed at uplifting those with daily struggles, but also carry interesting political stances that the band have been voicing since their beginnings. An impressive follow up to their last success with 'On the Ground'. Black Roots from Bristol release their new album Ghetto Feel. Our favourite, Grammy award-winning reggae/ dancehall guru is back with the third single release off his most recent album, 'Out Of Many One Music". Together with the fabulous Melissa Musique, the song is a light-hearted and uplifting admittance of the singers' feelings for each other. Leave behind those techy music attitudes and enjoy some Shaggy lovin'! Shaggy is back with a brand new single featuring Melissa Musique Since their beginnings in 1988, the band has been spreading positive vibes worldwide. On top of their musical creativity, they also take pride in using strictly analogue production, creating an authentic rootsy sound. Groundation boasts a unique sound, whilst also spreading an organic and ethical message about culture and society, evident in their choice of lyrics. The latest album, "A Miracle", released last month, is "an ode to the female spirit" but also a touching reflection of Stafford's (one of the founders') own little miracle coming into their world. A personal and positive sound that reggae fans will applaud. More @ guestlist.net/Reggae
