This is a true story of Cheryl Strayed, an American woman who in the summer of 1995 set out to tackle the 1,100 mile Pacific Coast Trail in an attempt to overcome her inner demons. Academy Award winner Reese Witherspoon is excellent in her harsh and trying performance as Strayed along strong performances from Laura Dern and Michiel Huisman. The director, Jean-Marc Vallée insisted on authenticity. and had Witherspoon wore no makeup. Vallée wanted "to see Reese out there, not vain at all, not concerned with her image". After the success of his last film, Dallas Buyers Club, Vallée looks certain to be nominated at the next Academy Awards. The movie was screened at BFI and Toronto Film Festivals to critical acclaim. We can't wait get lost in the Wild. Christopher Nolan is going to bring us yet another epic.
