18 Issue 71 / 2015 HOUSE/ TECHNO guestlist.net An impressive comeback year in 2014 News Plastic PeoPle shuts DowN Guestlist was saddened to hear about the closure of one of London's premier clubs earlier this month. Following the abrupt cancellation of their New Year's Eve event, it was announced at the beginning of the year that tiny Shoreditch club Plastic People was to close its doors following a final invite-only night featuring such home grown talents as Four Tet and Floating Points. We hope this isn't the last we see of the club, and here's hoping plans are in the works to relocate. While we're still waiting on an official announcement from the club's owners, console yourselves by listening to the last ever set over at Floating Points' Soundcloud page, which features almost six hours of classic Plastic People tunes and a wealth of the Dj's own material. Following on from Apollonia's re-issue of 'Underwater' in 2013 – an underground 90s gem – he decided it was time to brush off the dust and return to the game as Point G. Following a string of successful releases on his self-titled label, Point G has recently began to churn out live sets. This progression has heavily influenced his most recent LP entitled 'Point G Live Season 1'. Due to be released on the 26th of January, these tunes will be incorporated into his live sets as "a collection of superpowered club tracks, plain and simple," according to the press release. The Ovation series will bring a wide range of critically acclaimed acts from around the globe to London's Oval Space, focusing on fresh talent, rising stars and lesser known international names, with the purpose of bringing them to a wider audience. Tokimonsta, having released on the likes of Brainfeeder and Ninja Tune, is currently making some of LA's most innovative electronica, merging live instruments and percussion with digital manipulation and sequencing. This will be Tokimonsta's first live London show in five years! Her support act is the internationally recognized Slow Magic, a masked synth wizard whose textured soundscapes resemble glitchy, ethereal RnB. His spirit-animal style mask is available to buy via his Bandcamp for all those who fancy an electroluminescent addition to their festival gear armoury. tokiMoNsta hits oval sPace our PlaYlist Rocket Audio Werner All My Own Black Jazz Consortium Well, Does it?
