REPORT Audits of CF Stations and Restructuring of Program Complete [n 2007 the restructurmg of the CPS Program was completed In the past, reimbursement was made on a manhour basis It has now been changed Io a system dnven by productivity and blended local wage t~len All paymenls are now made by slnp/stuff ac hvity with an emphasis on produclion The CCCSC t~pot ring system is up and tamning and has under gone sever al successful updates throughout the first year With a relmble t~porling system m place, a com plete and detailed audit ot all the CF stations cmTently active was achieved in 2007 The stations were visited by a t~am col~lsting of Tom Sullivan of USMX, the pFRA group and, in most cases, Benny Holland representmg the ILA Once the audits were complete, reports were filed with the CFS Board of Trustees and the Funds were made whole for any t~porting shot tfalls or diserepan cles uncovered during the audit process The program continues to g~ow and that growth ~s monito~ ed continuously by USMX with the assistance of pFRA There have been no additiolaal statioD~ opened during the last year A User's Manual for all opera tots will be the first prolect for the CFS program in 2008 TJms manual will outline actual procedures to ass*st the CFS operators in the overall admin~ stration of the ptx3gram A continuing audit program will assure the CPS Trustees that the program will remain viable for the foreseeable futut~ Tr a i n i n g The completion of the 8DVD set of safety filn~ was a high light in the summer of 2007¸ The series is now available to all Port AssOciations and ILA Locals¸ The series includes topics such as Preventing Drag & Alcohol Abuse, Working Safely Around Raflears, Safe Driving on the Waterfront, personal protective Equipment and several others¸ For more reformation on this s e t l e S y o u c a n c o n t a c t T o m Sullivan at tsullivan@usmx corn or Nancy Kondas at nancyk@ coastal¸corn¸ To ~der this series you can contact Coastal Teehnologaes via email at sales@coastal eom or visit W W W C O a S t a l C O V fl I n o t h e r t r a i n i n g n e w s , a c o n traetual agreement has been t~aehed with Coastal Teehnol ogaes to t~seareh and develop a series of 10 short M&R safety films This serie~ is believed to be the first of its lond in our industry The research team will be visiting several ports to discuss M&R safety with local ILA officials and rank and file member~ Coastal will be shooting new footage for the prolect in 3 ot 4 different ports With the atTangements and initml outline in place, the prolect is moving along as planned and a late 2008 completion date is expected Monitoring the training ptx3grams in each port continues Only training that follows the CFS guidelines is approved for payment through the funds¸ Any n ~ w t r a l n l r t g p r o g r a m s m u s t b e presented to and approved by this office before any reimbursement is considered¸ The training programs in each pet are expanding, and in 2007, cities such as Wilmington, NC, Tampa, FL, and Mobile, AL have had discussions with us regarding new training in their respective ports¸ Wilmington and Tampa, in fact, have commenced training and Mobile has informed us that trairtmg is expected to commence there in mid 2008¸ Conversations with the two ports continue on developing their own in house training programs¸ Cooperahon with the Pacific Maritime Assocmhon led to the development and completion of our "Every Chmce Counts" safety ptx3gram Recent discussions have been held between our organtzatioD ~ on the issues of drag testing at the entry level, random dt~ag tenting, background checks, lashing and maintenance and repair safety ideas >Thomas p Sullh,an Director, Labor Relations
